The ERCOT Weather Forecast is developed by ERCOT Meteorologists Chris Coleman and Mark Witte. The interactive map displays today’s temperature information for major cities located within the ERCOT grid. Hover over a city to see the most recent temperature forecast.

Note: A Weather Zone is a geographic region designated by ERCOT in which climatological characteristics are similar for all areas within such region. This map displays the various Weather Zones that exist within the ERCOT footprint, but it does not necessarily include all counties that have participation within the ERCOT market.

Weather Forecast Details

General Discussion:
The cold front that brought scattered, strong thunderstorms through Texas on Thursday is moving toward the Lower Rio Grande Valley this morning. The front is forecast to pass through Brownsville early this afternoon. Behind the cold front, weather conditions are expected to be more pleasant with both lower afternoon temperatures and lower humidity. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop near the Big Bend region today; although, a stray thunderstorm near San Antonio cannot be ruled out.

On Saturday, the cold front will linger along the South Texas coast, while showers and thunderstorms are likely across West Texas and the southern Panhandle. Temperatures and humidity levels on Saturday will remain comfortable along with a breezy east wind.

By Sunday, the cold front lingering along the Gulf Coast will move north into Central Texas as a warm front. Showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe, will extend across Texas from Amarillo to Houston -- all major cities within the ERCOT region are at potential risk of severe storms on Sunday. Rainfall amounts on Sunday could exceed 2 inches with isolated higher amounts. The stormy, late-spring weather pattern looks to continue into next week.

Today:
Partly cloudy and pleasant with lower afternoon temperatures and humidity. Afternoon highs in the low- to mid-80s. A northeast wind of 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts.

Saturday:
Partly to mostly cloudy and continued pleasant conditions. Morning lows in the 60s. Afternoon highs from upper-70s to mid-80s. An east wind of around 10 mph.

Sunday:
Cloudy with numerous heavy showers and thunderstorms. Some storms may become severe. Morning lows in the 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid-70s to low-80s. A southeast wind of 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts.
