SHORT DESCRIPTION: GTC Communication Documents Update - South Texas IROLs

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT-registered Transmission Service Providers (TSPs) and NERC-registered Transmission Planners (TPs), Transmission Operators (TOPs), and Transmission Owners (TOs)

DAYS AFFECTED: April 10, 2024

LONG DESCRIPTION: In accordance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standard FAC-014-3 Requirement R5, Parts 5.1, 5.2, 5.5, and 5.6, ERCOT hereby provides notice that it has updated information regarding the South Texas Interconnection Reliability Operating Limits (IROLs) within its Generic Transmission Constraint (GTC) Communication documents and posted the updated set of documents to the Market Information System (MIS) Certified Area for TSPs. The GTC Communication documents include the following information for each existing ERCOT GTC:

  • The value of the stability limit or IROL determined by ERCOT's offline studies;
  • Identification of the Facilities that are critical to the derivation of the stability limit or the IROL;
  • The associated IROL Tv for any IROL;
  • The associated critical contingency(ies);
  • A description of system conditions associated with the stability limit or IROL; and
  • The type of limitation represented by the stability limit or IROL (e.g., voltage collapse, angular stability).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The GTC Communication documents can be found on the ERCOT MIS Certified Area for TSPs (EMIL ID:  NP12-314-M, Report Type ID: 24065). To access this product, users must have the MPIM role for ICE_M_VIEW_TSPECEII installed on their Digital Certificates.
