SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Initial and Final determination for BIG BROWN POWER COMPANY LLC (RE) – Big Brown Unit 1 (BBSES_UNIT1) and Big Brown Unit 2 (BBSES_UNIT2)

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  February 12, 2018

LONG DESCRIPTION:  On October 13, 2017, ERCOT received a Notification of Suspension of Operations (NSO) for the following Generation Resource:

•  BIG BROWN POWER COMPANY LLC (RE) – Big Brown Unit 1 (BBSES_UNIT1) and Big Brown Unit 2 (BBSES_UNIT2)

The proposed effective date for the suspension of  BIG BROWN POWER COMPANY LLC (RE) – Big Brown Unit 1 (BBSES_UNIT1) and Big Brown Unit 2 (BBSES_UNIT2) is February 12, 2018. 

Pursuant to requirements under ERCOT Protocols Section 3.14.1.2 (3), ERCOT is issuing an initial determination that this Generation Resource is not required to support ERCOT transmission system reliability. Pursuant to Section 3.14.1.2 (5), this Notice will also serve as the final determination, and the Resource may be decommissioned according to the schedule in the NSO.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  ERCOT has posted the analysis performed to arrive at its determination on the Generation page of the Market Information System (MIS) Secure Area.  An ERCOT Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS.
