M-B022625-01 Real-Time Co-optimization plus Batteries (RTC+B) Market Trials Sandbox environment will be available March 7, 2025

NOTICE DATE: February 26, 2025

NOTICE TYPE: M-B022625-01 Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Real-Time Co-optimization plus Batteries (RTC+B) Market Trials Sandbox environment will be available March 7, 2025

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Qualified Scheduling Entities with Resources

DAYS AFFECTED: March 7, 2025 – April 30, 2025

LONG DESCRIPTION: As part of early risk mitigation for the Real-Time Co-optimization plus Batteries (RTC+B) program, ERCOT is deploying a new environment for Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs) with Resources to access for limited connectivity and testing of RTC+B interfaces.  This first release into the Market trials environment is being considered a “Sandbox release” as it is an early release with limited capability, similar to ERCOT’s Market Operations Test Environment (MOTE).  A valid MOTE digital certificate will be required to access the RTC+B interfaces.  Note that QSE User Security Administrators (USAs) create and issue needed MOTE user and API certificates.

This RTC+B Market Trials Sandbox will support connectivity and transactions for both the Market Management System (MMS) and Outage Scheduler (OS) User Interfaces and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).  Details of this deployment will be discussed at the Technology Working Group meeting on February 27, 2025 at 2:00 pm and materials will also be posted on the “Technical RTC+B Details” section of the Real-Time Co-optimization plus Batteries Task Force (RTCBTF) home page.  Another Market Notice will be issued in April with details on Market trials for QSE Submissions and Telemetry testing phase.

ERCOT offers the following information to support connecting to the RTC+B Market Trials Sandbox for MMS and OS:

Note that for API submissions over the Wide Area Network (WAN) and internet into Market trials environments, QSEs must download the RTC+B Test Market trials public key and place the public key into the keystore location in the system used for RTC+B submissions.

In addition, to support testing notifications from ERCOT for API submissions, QSEs should submit API Listener URL set up information using the template available from the “Technical RTC+B Details” section of the RTCBTF page.  QSEs are expected to complete this template and send it to RTCB@ercot.com.
