SHORT DESCRIPTION: Schedule for Reliability-Must Run and Must-Run Alternative Processes Associated With the Notices of Suspension of Operations (NSOs) for BRAUNIG_VHB1, BRAUNIG_VHB2, and BRAUNIG_VHB3

DAYS AFFECTED: July 25, 2024 and thereafter
LONG DESCRIPTION: Previously, ERCOT provided a Market Notice regarding the NSOs submitted by CPS Energy for the Generation Resources: BRAUNIG_VHB1, BRAUNIG_VHB2, and BRAUNIG_VHB3 (hereinafter, the Braunig Resources). The NSOs indicate that, as of March 31, 2025, the Generation Resources will indefinitely suspend operations.
ERCOT also issued a Market Notice regarding the reliability analysis conducted under ERCOT Protocols Section 3.14.1.2, ERCOT Evaluation Process, that showed these Generation Resources are needed to support ERCOT System reliability.
Thereafter, the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) issued an Order granting ERCOT a limited good cause exception to permit variance from the deadlines in the ERCOT Protocols for the Reliability Must-Run (RMR) and Must-Run Alternative (MRA) processes associated with the proposed suspension of the Braunig Resources, including the deadlines in ERCOT Protocols § 3.14.1.2, ERCOT Evaluation Process.
Consistent with that Order, on July 9, 2024, ERCOT filed with the PUCT an update regarding the timeline for potentially entering into one or more agreements for RMR or MRA service as a result of the planned retirement of the Braunig Resources.
