Background

Status: Approved
Date Posted: Feb 5, 2013
Sponsor: ERCOT
Urgent: No
Sections: 4.4.9.1, 4.5.1
Description: This Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) adds a Day-Ahead Market (DAM) mechanism for self-committing Generation Resources on an hourly basis; and makes a minor clarification to the description of the timing of the Simultaneous Feasibility Test (SFT) process.
Reason: There currently exists a mechanism for Generation Resources to self-commit and allow the DAM to optimize their energy and Ancillary Service offers. The effect of the self-commitment is to nullify the temporal constraints as well as the requirement to award a block at Low Sustained Limit (LSL). However, the implementation of this is such that it is restricted to a daily decision (self-committed or not for the entire set of hours for that day). Implementation of this NPRR would essentially create an hour-by-hour self-commitment flag.
